Steps Challenge: Discover Esslingen on foot in October!
In October 2025, Bissingen an der Teck invites you to the “#everything goes” campaign: promote walking with a step challenge and walking formats.

Steps Challenge: Discover Esslingen on foot in October!
Today, October 4th, 2025, the Esslingen district is launching the hands-on campaign “#everything goes”, which focuses on walking. Six district municipalities are taking part in this initiative, which was launched by the Association of Bicycle and Pedestrian Friendly Municipalities in Baden-Württemberg (AGFK-BW). With this campaign, the district administration would like to encourage citizens to take part in the “Steps Challenge” and explore the district on foot. This happens not only through competitions, but also through various formats that encourage walking.
The campaign aims to increase health, togetherness and quality of life in communities. Citizens can take part in the “Steps Challenge” from October 1st to 31st, 2025, which is designed as a four-week step competition for teams. Registration for this began in September and is possible up to 14 days after the start of the challenge. Those interested can set up their own teams or join existing teams to collect steps together and be active. Further information about registration is available on the central website www.allesgeht-bw.de.
Exploring the region
In addition to the “Steps Challenge”, the campaign also offers the “Walk and Talk” format. There are six walking routes available that can be explored individually - either alone or in groups. The routes that lead to different municipalities in the district are as follows:
- Große Rundwanderung durch Aichwald (ca. 16.800 Schritte)
- HOCHGEHBERGE in Bissingen a.d.T. (ca. 16.200 Schritte)
- Streuobstwiesen-Erlebnispfad Dettingen (ca. 3.900 Schritte)
- Eduard-Mörike-Weg in Großbettlingen (ca. 12.500 Schritte)
- Siebenmühlental in Leinfelden-Echterdingen (ca. 7.300 Schritte)
- Barrierearmer Rundweg durch Bruckenwasen in Plochingen (ca. 3.300 Schritte)
With events such as the foot traffic check in Dettingen on October 1st and the GEH Café in Esslingen on October 6th, the campaign creates opportunities for encounters and exchanges. Further dates include the “Women Walk and Talk” in Echterdingen on October 7th and the city walk in Echterdingen on October 9th. The hiking program “From Strength to Juice” will also take place in Nürtingen on October 11th, while the next GEH Café will take place on October 14th in Esslingen under the motto “On the move with the city archive”.
Overall, these formats encourage citizens to actively participate in exploring their surroundings on foot. With the hands-on campaign “#everything goes”, the Esslingen district is reinforcing its commitment to an active and healthy lifestyle in the region. The initiative not only benefits the health of the population, but also strengthens cooperation and a sense of community among citizens. Participation in these free offers is open to anyone interested, and it is hoped that many citizens will feel motivated to try out the various routes and events and to actively participate.
The initiative will be implemented in all participating municipalities, including Bissingen, Dettingen, Esslingen, Großbettlingen, Kirchheim and Leinfelden-Echterdingen, which are working together to promote pedestrian traffic. [NTZ] reports that this is a prime opportunity to try out the new approach to pedestrian traffic in the district and experience positive effects.
