Small feet, big effect: Böblingen school children collect 6,500 euros!

On May 28, 2025, the first donation run by Erich Kästner primary school in Böblingen in the Park of Dienhalde took place. Around 170 students from classes 1 to 4 took part. The goal was clear: to run as many rounds as possible in half an hour to collect donations for a good cause. Despite the continuing rain, the children showed great effort and ran a total of 1,852 laps, which corresponds to almost 520 kilometers.

The total amount of the donations collected amounts to 6,500 euros. Half of the proceeds of the run are distributed to the Förderverein cancer-suffering children Tübingen e.V. and for the other half to the Böblingen youth farm. The funds were acquired by sponsors who were addressed by the students in advance, as well as a donation from the school support association.

gratitude and future prospects

The donation handover took place on June 25, 2025. Anton Hofmann from the Friends of Cancer Children Tübingen e.V. was emotionally touched by the support and solidarity that the event created. Ulrike Kosian from the youth farm also thanked him warmly. The Erich Kästner School plans to establish the donation run as an integral part of the school year in order to continue to support social projects.

The positive response of the participants and the donation recipient confirms the desire to regularly hold such events. Teachers, parents and classmates cheered on the children during the run and thus contributed to a sustainable experience that not only promoted sporting activities, but also the social commitment of the students.
