Just a few weeks after an impressive victory in the opening race in Fürstlich Drehna, Nagl experienced a dramatic change in his fortunes. The last two races ended disappointingly for him when he didn't even reach the TOP 5. In the shocking update on Facebook, Nagl revealed that it was all due to a life-threatening infection with Staphylococcus aureus that he contracted during knee surgery in 2019 - a stroke of fate that puts his entire career in doubt!
Crushing symptoms and loss of dominance
The INFECTING effects of these bacteria are relentless. Nagl describes his symptoms as unbearable: extreme high blood pressure, hyperventilation, muscle pain and a frightening loss of energy bother him. After a renewed surge before the race in Tensfeld, it was clear that this merciless opponent was still lurking in the shadows of his career. After extensive medical examinations, including cardiac and pulmonary echo and blood tests, it was alarmingly discovered that these symptoms were at the heart of his physical problems.
The Moto-Cracks condition is shocking! Between the races in Tensfeld and Gaildorf he was unable to complete any intensive training, especially cycling training - a disaster for any ambitious athlete! Despite his overwhelming willpower and tireless fighting spirit, the question remains: can he recover in time to compete at the next event in France at the end of August?

Max Nagl is aggressively planning further examinations and treatments in order to get back into top shape as quickly as possible. Looking ahead, he explains that giving up is not an option! His tireless drive and the support of his family, friends, teammates and sponsors give him the strength to keep fighting. “This is just a detour on my way to the goal” - a sentence that underlines the athlete's unwavering determination.
