Future of the Steinheim music school: teachers saved, new concerts planned!
The Steinheim Music School is at the center of positive change. After the future of many of the dedicated music school teachers was in question, an encouraging turnaround can now be reported. So reported Westphalia sheet that the college consists of 18 teachers, a management and an administrative specialist and that these will remain under the umbrella of the Steinheim city administration. This brings a certain level of security for the teachers who have been officially employed by the city since November 2022.
This decision, which led to the rescue of the music school teachers, came after a ruling by the Federal Social Court that questioned the employment of the fee-based staff. This overcomes the uncertainty regarding their employment. A positive aspect is that there are currently 880 students attending the music school, which makes it the largest of its kind in the Höxter district New Westphalian highlights. Pupils come not only from Steinheim, but also from Nieheim and the neighboring Lippe district.
Optimism despite adverse circumstances
Although the music school's court festival was canceled due to unfortunate weather conditions, the teachers remain optimistic. With the new positions they can now concentrate more on their valuable work. A notable new offering is “Singing for the Soul,” which is offered specifically for dementia sufferers and their families every second Thursday of the month.
In addition, a new string ensemble with nine students is being created. This shows the music school's commitment to introducing innovative musical initiatives. Another planned offer is aimed at people at the end of their lives in order to offer them musical support.
Future events
The music school also invites you to two important concerts. The elementary school JeKits Orchestra will perform in the town hall on June 15th at 4 p.m. In addition, a music school concert will take place in the Protestant church on July 4th at 6 p.m. These events provide a platform for students to showcase their skills and bring the community together.
