The city of Meiningen in Thuringia invites wine lovers and nature lovers alike to go on an enjoyable wine hike. The guided hike through the picturesque Herrenberg starts on September 20, 2025 at 11 a.m. The starting point is the tourist information office at Ernestinerstraße 2 in Meiningen. Under the expert guidance of Gerd Börner, an experienced connoisseur of regional wine culture, participants will immerse themselves in the region's fascinating wine history.
Particular attention is paid to medieval viticulture in Meiningen, a period that was an important source of income for the city. The organizers of the wine hike are the tourism officials in Meiningen.
Event details
The hiking tour covers a distance of around six kilometers, which leads through the idyllic landscape of the Herrenberg. In addition to interesting historical insights, participants can also expect culinary highlights. The wine hike ends in the historic wine cellar of the “Zum Goldenen Zwinger” inn, where a wine tasting takes place. The food includes traditional regional dishes that go perfectly with the wines.
The participation fee is 59 euros per person and includes the guided hike, wine tasting and meals. Registrations are now possible at the Meiningen Tourist Information Office, which can also be contacted by telephone at 03693–4465-0.
