CSU Neuhaus chooses Stephan Ertl as the new candidate for mayor!

Today the CSU local association Neuhaus an der Pegnitz announced its decision to unanimously propose Stephan Ertl as mayoral candidate for the 2026 local elections. The 48-year-old executive officer succeeds the incumbent mayor Josef Springer, who will not run again after three terms in office. Springer, who has been in office since 2008, strongly supports Ertl and was also unanimously nominated by the local association when he ran for a third term on March 15. The CSU local association plans to hold the official nomination event before the summer holidays in order to set the course for the upcoming election. According to n-land.de, Ertl emphasizes the importance of cooperation in the local council and the need to further develop the community.

Stephan Ertl has been the local chairman of the CSU Neuhaus since 2019 and a member of the local council since 2020. He not only brings many years of local political experience, but also comprehensive leadership qualities. As manager and head of the main administration of the city of Röthenbach an der Pegnitz, he has already proven that he can take on responsibility. His family lives in the Höfen district and consists of his wife and two children, which gives him close ties to the community.

Goals and challenges

In this local election, the CSU in Neuhaus is aiming to expand its seats on the local council from the current six to seven seats. This goes hand in hand with the goal of expanding on the successes of recent years and tackling new projects. When nominating, Springer already mentioned successful initiatives, such as the construction of a new footpath and cycle path to Seda and the modernization of the water supply. Future goals include building land designations and energy saving measures.

Another important point of the nomination was the approval of a list of 26 applicants for the market town council. This includes five women and 21 men, with the average age being 41 years. The applicants come from various districts of Neuhaus and neighboring communities. These include well-known faces like Ertl, who secured a place on the list directly behind Springer. The list is composed as follows:

name Old profession
Joseph Springer 61 mayor
Stephan Ertl 48 administrative officer
Sabine Richter 49 Teacher
Thomas Steger 55 Chemical production worker
Claudia Webert 38 Administrative specialist
Stefan Trenz 37 Graduate mathematician
Manuela Graf 49 Cleaner
Stephan Kasper 33 brewer
Dagmar Buchfelder 45 Tax clerk
Carsten Frühbeisser 43 Production worker

Preparations for the 2026 local elections are in full swing. The new candidate Ertl will strive to continue Springer's successful work on the local council. Norbert Dünkel, the district chairman and member of the state parliament (MdL), praised the market town's progress and the nomination of the candidates. This year, Neuhaus will also receive 385,000 euros in key allocations from the Free State, which could further improve the municipality's financial scope to implement future projects.
