Sporting highlight: MHP RIESEN and championship teams start the season strong!
The new season starts on September 30, 2025 for MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg, which will initially play an away game against the Skyliners Frankfurt in the 1st Basketball Bundesliga. The first home game against the Fitness First Würzburg Baskets is on the program on October 3, 2025, which starts at 6 p.m. The enthusiasm for basketball is noticeable in the region, especially after the impressive start to the season by the ProB teams from Ludwigsburg and Fellbach. The BBA Ludwigsburg celebrated a clear 77:53 victory in Würzburg, while the Fellbach Flashers won 67:60 in Dresden. Both teams also have home games on October 3rd and 5th, 2025.
In the Badminton Bundesliga, however, SG Schorndorf had to start the season with two defeats. However, there are new opportunities on the schedule on October 4th and 5th, 2025, when the team returns to the pitch with home games against 1. BV Maintal and 1. BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim II. Handball fans can look forward to the DHB Cup, in which FRESH UP! Göppingen and TVB Stuttgart will intervene on October 1st and 2nd, 2025.
Futsal and wrestling – regional successes
TSV Weilimdorf got off to a sensational start in futsal and are at the top of the table after three away games. Their first home game will take place on October 4, 2025 against Hamburger SV. In wrestling, ASV Schorndorf will also start its first Bundesliga season on October 3, 2025 with a home fight against SC Kleinostheim.
For swimming fans there will be SV Cannstatt's Young Challenge on October 5th, 2025, while table tennis fans can expect an exciting duel between TSV Korntal and Sport-Union Neckarsulm on October 4th, 2025. In gymnastics, competitive spirit will be recharged between VfL Kirchheim/Teck and TG Hanauerland on the same day.
Popular sports and football
The running community will take part in the Kichertlauf on October 3rd and the SVG mountain run on October 5th, 2025. Football lovers can look forward to a regional league hit between the Stuttgarter Kickers and SGV Freiberg. The anticipation is great, especially in a week that the sports community here in Stuttgart and the surrounding area can experience together.
The current performance of basketball players in the ProB is particularly noteworthy. Leverkusen's Donte Nicholas was named Player of the Year after leading his team to the finals. His teammates Isaiah Sanders and Adam Paige also achieved significant success. Sanders was named Guard of the Year and Paige was named Forward of the Year, which underlines the high level of performance in the league. Overall, five of the league's top ten points scorers are US college graduates, which shows the high level of competition and the promotion of talented young talent in the German basketball scene. Other awards include center of the year, Dennis Heinzmann, and rookie of the year, Emanuel Schueler (Berlin Braves).
