Stuttgart: S-Bahn cancellations from May 31st to June 2nd – buses take over!

Deutsche Bahn (DB) will carry out extensive underground cable engineering work as part of the pilot project on the weekend from May 31st to June 2nd, 2025 Digital node Stuttgart carry out. This work concerns the S-Bahn main line between Stuttgart Schwabstrasse and Stuttgart-Vaihingen as well as the airport line to Filderstadt. During this period, train services will not be possible on these routes.

The disruptions will begin at 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 31 and continue until 4 a.m. on Monday, June 2. The S-Bahn lines S1, S2 and S3 will be replaced by buses during this time, with trains running every half hour.

Accurate timetables and replacement buses

The S1 runs between Kirchheim/Teck–Stuttgart Schwabstraße and Stuttgart-Vaihingen–Herrenberg. The S2 operates between Schorndorf and Stuttgart main station, while the S3 commutes between Backnang and Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. In addition, the SEV1 buses run every ten minutes between Stuttgart main station/Arnulf-Klett-Platz and Stuttgart-Vaihingen, train station/ZOB.

The stops of the SEV1 buses include Wilhelmsbau/Büchsenstrasse, Feuersee, Schwabstrasse, Westbahnhof, University, Vaihingen and Alter Friedhof. Alternatively, passengers can use the regional transport line RE14, which also stops in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. The S2E buses also run from Stuttgart-Vaihingen, train station/ZOB, to Filderstadt, Bernhausen, every half hour during the day.

More traffic information

The U6 between the main train station and the airport/trade fair will also be interrupted. This work will last from Thursday, May 29th to Sunday, June 1st, 2025 and will be replaced by UE buses running between Charlottenplatz and Bopser. The DB strongly recommends that passengers find out about the current connections before starting their journey and, if necessary, allow more time.

The modernization of the Stuttgart rail hub is part of a comprehensive strategy to digitize rail transport in Germany.
