Terrible accident on the A8: VW driver loses control and injures three!
On Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2025, a traffic accident occurred on the A8 motorway at the Leonberg-West exit, which resulted in several injuries. At around 2:38 p.m., a 70-year-old VW driver lost control of her vehicle in the direction of the Leonberg triangle. The exact circumstances of the loss of control are still unclear. During the incident, her car initially veered to the right before the driver attempted to steer, resulting in oversteer. The VW hit the left concrete barrier twice and came to a stop in the left lane.
The accident resulted in debris that damaged two other vehicles, a Mercedes driven by a 24-year-old and a Mercedes driven by a 48-year-old driver in the oncoming lane. The driver of the VW, a 31-year-old passenger and a 66-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Overall, the estimated total damage is around 25,500 euros.
Vehicle recovery and traffic jams
Various emergency services from the Ludwigsburg traffic police were on site, including two patrol cars, three ambulances and an emergency doctor, as well as the Leonberg fire department. Due to the rescue work, the middle and left lanes were closed until 4:49 p.m., resulting in a backlog of around two kilometers.
Previous incidents in the region
Given the repeated incidents at this point, a closer look at the traffic conditions and the causes of accidents is urgently needed. In both cases, the emergency services were quickly on site to care for the injured and clarify the security situation. It remains to be hoped that such accidents can be avoided in the future.
