New festival on Schoettle-Platz: Stuttgart-Süd celebrates with culture and fun!
The first Schoettle Platz Festival will take place from June 26th to 29th, 2025 on Erwin-Schoettle-Platz in the Heslach district of Stuttgart. The event replaces the Heusteigviertel festival, which traditionally takes place at the end of June, and is brought to life by the organizers Thomas Fadini and Mirko Buxbaum. The aim of the organizers is to create a festival for and with the residents, which offers a platform for numerous local clubs and promotes encounters in the district. Around 8,000 visitors are expected and the total cost of the festival is 41,000 euros, reports Stuttgart News.
With a colorful program that includes culture, music and gastronomy, the festival creates a lively atmosphere. On the last day of the festival, June 29th, a “Day of Initiatives and Associations” will take place, which will be supplemented by an awarding of the Stuttgart Honorary Coin at 3:00 p.m. Among those honored are Waltraud Schwollius, treasurer of the Kaltental citizens' initiative, Wolfgang Jaworek, second chairman of the Stuttgart-Süd History Workshop. V., and Hagen Müller, 2nd chairman of DER SÜDEN, trade, commerce and service association Stuttgart-Süd e.V., as Walked out reported.
Resident concerns and support
Despite the positive aspects of the festival, residents express concerns about the parking situation. Access to the underground car parks is not possible during the event, which sparked protests. The city offers answers by registering free alternative parking spaces. Concerns have also arisen about noise, garbage and wild peeing. Project manager Buxbaum is thinking about protective measures to address these challenges. The district leader Jonathan Makurath supports the festival with a contribution of 5,000 euros from the district advisory board, which underlines the importance of the event in the district.
The beer price during the festival is 4.90 euros for half a liter, which is not unusual compared to the prices at other events. Criticisms of Stuttgart city festivals are not new, but the Schoettle Platz Festival has the potential to leave a positive impression through its diverse program and community engagement. The organizers do everything in their power to make the festival an unforgettable experience for all residents and visitors.
