Forest festival in Stammheim: A festival for the whole family awaits you!

On Saturday, September 27th, 2025, the Protestant parish of Stammheim-Holzbronn invites you to a forest festival on the town hall square in Stammheim. This festival is part of the events organized by the Sustainability Committee, which this year is dedicated to the topic of forests. The aim is to actively live the preservation of creation and to motivate the community to get actively involved. The main target group are families with children, who are cordially invited to this special occasion.

In recent years the focus has been on different thematic focuses. In 2023 the topic of potatoes was taken up, followed by orchards in 2024. This year it's all about the forest. Various events have been taking place as part of the forest festival series since May 2025. This includes a church service with the forest kindergarten and the distribution of tree seedlings to primary school students. A forest walk with city forester Karlheinz Kollmannsberger enabled the participants to experience the characteristics of the forest up close, complemented by activities such as felling a tree by confirmation candidates and discovering forest dwellers.

A variety of activities for the whole family

The forest festival begins at 1 p.m. with a colorful selection of food and drinks. From 2 p.m. the hunting horn players will entertain visitors. For the children there is a hands-on quiz, a play street and a craft corner that invite them to get creative. Berthold Reichle, future co-head of the Black Forest National Park, will be interviewed as part of the festival, which will give visitors exciting insights into the goals of the national park.

A joint service by the Christian communities in Stammheim will take place at 4:30 p.m. All community members are invited to take part in this community experience. A broad participation of the Stammheim population is expected, who will actively participate in the celebrations.

Forest education as a key to preserving creation

The importance of the event goes beyond the festival and reflects the values of forest education. This promotes understanding and acceptance of sustainable forest management. Forest education plays a central role in education for sustainable development (ESD) and imparts not only knowledge, but also social and emotional skills. It motivates children and adults to be self-effective and have a say in issues of environmental protection and the sustainable use of our natural resources. LWF Bavaria reports that through extensive networking in forest-related environmental education, forest education has been established as an effective communication tool.

Forest education has developed further in recent decades and now offers more complex offerings that go beyond the classic forest tour. This development is supported in particular by research projects for quality assurance and further training for educators. Such approaches can also be observed in the activities of the forest festival in Stammheim, which aim to bring people closer to the topic of forests and make them an active part of environmental protection.

Overall, the forest festival in Stammheim promises to be a successful event that conveys a valuable message for both residents and the environment: valuing and protecting the forest is a shared task for the entire community.
