Weekend full of highlights: Münster celebrates with music and markets!
Last weekend, May 24, 2025, Münster was a center of lively activity despite the unpleasant weather. Numerous people enjoyed a relaxing day on the promenade, where a varied range of entertainment and culinary delights awaited them. These surprisingly high visitor numbers show how lively city life is even in less than optimal weather conditions. This year's green space entertainment featured musical performances of a wide variety of genres at 81 stations, creating a festive atmosphere.
Particularly noteworthy was the opening of the new water workshop at the Hornheide waterworks. This new offering invites visitors to learn more about the use and protection of water resources. In addition, the street market took place in the center of Wolbeck, which is considered the largest private flea market in Münsterland with over 400 stalls, making it a popular destination for bargain hunters.
A variety of events in Münster
Münster will offer a wealth of events in 2025 that cover both cultural and sporting highlights. The Annual Overview 2025 Münster lists many interesting events, including the largest folk festival, the Spring Send, which took place from March 22nd to 30th, and the Summer Send, which will take place from July 17th to 21st, 2025. Another highlight is the city festival “Münster Mittendrin”, which will be celebrated from August 15th to 17th, 2025.
As part of the sporting events, the 2nd Münster Urban Run is coming up on June 4th, 2025, followed by the Sparda Münster City Triathlon on June 22nd. The cultural offerings are also extensive: among other things, the exhibition with works by Otto Mueller runs until February 2nd, 2025 and the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” exhibition runs until April 6th.

The city of Münster offers comprehensive support for organizers of public events. A special offer includes advice and support with organizational tasks as well as assistance from the initial consultation to professional support. Organizers can rely on help with permits, date and venue searches, and other practical aspects. Information and tips are also available in the monthly journal “Münster live” and can be found on the city website Münster Tourismus.
The special events in the coming months include the “Münster spoils…” festival, which takes place from June 13th to 16th, and the Doklands Festival on May 31st, 2025. Culinary offerings such as the wine festival from May 23rd to 25th also promise visitors a lot of enjoyment.
