Renovation of SSB stops: traffic changes in Möhringen!

In Stuttgart, the renovation of two light rail stops will begin on June 2, 2025 and will last until July 4, 2025. The work affects the Riedsee and Sonnenberg stops, which are located between Möhringen and Sonnenberg. During the construction phase, the platforms facing the city cannot be accessed; the affected lines are the U5, U6, U8 and U12. Passengers heading towards Degerloch have to change at the Peregrinastraße stop, while the platforms outside the city in the direction of Möhringen remain regularly served. In order to maintain traffic flow during the renovation work, Rembrandstrasse will be closed to car traffic in the direction of Degerloch. A diversion will take place via Sigmaringer Straße and the B 27 in order to avoid any traffic jams.

As the SSB (Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG) reports, such structural measures are necessary to keep the infrastructure efficient in the future. The stops in particular must be regularly maintained and, if necessary, repaired in order to cope with the increasing number of passengers. The current construction work is part of a comprehensive plan that also takes other lines and stops in Stuttgart into account.

Planned construction work in Stuttgart

Several additional construction works have been announced in Stuttgart in May 2025. Track construction work will take place in Stuttgart-Mitte from May 29th to June 1st, which will affect other lines such as the U5 and U6. In addition, various maintenance-related work in Stuttgart-South and track construction work are firmly planned for the coming months, which are recorded in the city's construction site calendar. According to current reports, construction is also underway in Mönchfeld and Feuerbach, for example, which will result in additional diversions and restrictions in city traffic. The Stuttgart civil engineering department has published a detailed construction site calendar to inform citizens about possible traffic disruptions.

It is important for citizens to find out about the upcoming construction work in good time so that they can plan their trips accordingly. Suggestions for diversions and current information about construction sites are provided so that everyone involved can respond to the traffic restrictions in the best possible way.

Traffic disruptions caused by construction projects

The upcoming construction work is part of a continuous process to keep the infrastructure in Stuttgart up to date. Excavations and construction sites are unavoidable, especially for the maintenance of roads and railways. The city administration strives to make all relevant information transparent and accessible in order to minimize possible inconvenience to citizens. Further information on specific construction sites and planned traffic routes can be found on the City of Stuttgart website.

The civil engineering department is available to citizens if they have any questions about the construction sites. The city provides information by publishing a construction site calendar in order to keep expectations of traffic conditions realistic.

SSB AG promises to take all necessary steps to keep the impact of the construction work on daily traffic as low as possible. Nevertheless, it is advisable to plan your trips carefully with an eye on the upcoming changes.
