75 years of the Stuttgart Youth Center: Celebrate the anniversary week with us!
The Stuttgart Youth House Society (STJG) is celebrating an important anniversary this year: the organization, which is known as the largest provider of open child and youth work in Baden-Württemberg, has existed for 75 years. To mark this occasion, a theme week will take place from June 2nd to 6th, 2025 under the motto “75 years of growing together”. Preparations are already in full swing and numerous exciting offers are being implemented in the various STJG facilities.
The official kick-off event starts on June 3, 2025 from 2 p.m. in the West Youth Center. A varied program is planned, which includes a stage program with dance performances and an LED show as well as interactive offerings such as a photo box and a timeline puzzle. In addition, a new graffiti will be created behind the building, showing the creative side of the young people. The celebrations offer an excellent opportunity to experience the history and development of the STJG up close.
Diverse offers during the anniversary week
The theme week offers numerous activities for visitors. This includes a digital picture show in the Vaihingen youth center and a scavenger hunt through the history of the STJG at the Maria Montessori elementary school. The discussion of toy development in the STJG Storchennest daycare center will also be part of the program. This variety of offerings reflects the STJG's many years of experience and expertise, which has gained importance in the area of open child and youth work.
The Stuttgart Youth Center Society was founded in 1950 and has since developed into one of the largest independent providers of open child and youth work in Germany. STJG currently employs over 800 people at more than 70 locations. The wide range includes 41 children's and youth facilities, 22 adventure playgrounds and 5 daycare centers, and thus makes an important contribution to the personal development of young people.
An important partner for school social work
The STJG is also an active partner in school social work and offers full-day care at 20 schools in the region. Their work not only supports children, but also families and neighborhood residents up to the age of 99. This shows how deeply rooted the STJG is in the Stuttgart community and how important its role is for social integration and development.
Promoting skills for personal and social development is the focus of the offerings, which take place not only within schools but also in open facilities. Youth centers, adventure playgrounds and youth farms offer free activities with no entry requirements, enabling broad participation of young people. These initiatives are crucial for shaping self-confident and socially capable personalities and enabling them to participate in social processes.
