Talents in the Dorfstadl: Großnondorf celebrates young musical artists!
On June 6, 2025, an exciting children's and youth concert took place in the Dorfstadl in Großnondorf, which offered the stage to numerous young musicians. The event, which was part of the activities of the Großnondorf Trachtenkapelle, brought together 22 talented young musicians who performed in various ensembles. The groups that presented their skills included the “Recorder Dwarfs”, the new youth orchestra “Gunts’n’Großes”, which celebrated its premiere that day, and the more experienced group “GroßTONdorfer”. The varied program showed what potential the young talents have and was received with great joy by the audience.
The Großnondorf traditional band, under the direction of chairman Leopold Kührer and the musical directors Friedrich Platz and Magdalena Karl, has a long tradition. The first mention of local music in Großnondorf can be traced back to 1876 in the parish chronicle. Over the past decades, the chapel has repeatedly reinvented itself and today makes a significant contribution to cultural events in the region.
History of the traditional band
After the village band existed until the Second World War, the Großnondorf traditional costume band was officially founded in the 1950s. This found its place in the brass band association in 1956 and was also involved in the creation of the Hollabrunn district working group. The chapel's rehearsal room was moved to the rectory in 2007 as part of a renovation of the village center, which further promoted musical activity.
The band currently has 20 active members and has numerous young musicians and music students in its ranks. The repertoire includes both traditional brass music and modern pieces that are used on various occasions. Ceremonial acts, morning pints, masses and processions are now fixed dates in the chapel's event calendar.

The commitment of the Großnondorf Trachtenkapelle, particularly the promotion of young musicians, is also reflected in the regular hosting of events that enrich the cultural life of the community. The team around Leopold Kührer is always open to new members and interested parties who would like to become part of the musical community. Interested musicians and parents are welcome to contact Leopold Kührer for further information: 2042 Guntersdorf, Großnondorf 57 A, Tel. 0676 / 39 41 429, Email: Leopold.Kuehrer@gmail.com.
Today's event has once again proven how important such platforms are for the development of young talent and what cultural significance the Großnondorf traditional band has for the region. NOEN and Guntersdorf report on the sustainable work of the band, which has shaped many generations of musicians.
