SCANDAL in the Rems-Murr district: Almost 12,000 people without a job – unemployment is rising!

A shrill alarm bell for the Rems-Murr district! SHOCKING news reaches us: Almost 12,000 people are currently unemployed there! The latest calculations show a dramatic increase in the unemployment rate from 4.6% to a staggering 4.8% in August 2025, with - KILLING! – 363 more people suffered their fate of unemployment this month. Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports unprecedented drama in the labor market, while 966 people in the last four Weeks after the end of their employment they had to find themselves on the way to the job center!

The gloomy numbers show no improvement! Despite the incredible 670 people who were able to end their unemployment thanks to new employment, the situation remains catastrophic. 384 people also tried to escape the misery through training or further education. These are frightening developments in a region that once saw itself as a hotbed of employment!

The REAL VICTIMS: The Younger Ones

What is particularly alarming is the increasing number of people under 25, which has now risen to a shocking 1,056! This means that our future heroes are suffering from joblessness as they desperately search for prospects. In a disastrous year of 2024, there were still a modest 10,753 unemployed, putting the unemployment rate at 4.4%. Now the reckoning of time shows only one thing: an unceasing fall of misfortune! The unemployment rate throughout Baden-Württemberg has also increased by 0.2 points to 4.7% - an alarming development that affects us all!

The light at the end of the tunnel? None! With only 457 new job reports, hopes for relaxation on the labor market are bleak. The number of vacancies on the job board of the employment agency stands out with over 2,500 offers, but it is clear here: the necessary contingent of skilled personnel seems to be unattainable - countless training positions remain unfilled! There are 800 training positions waiting for capable candidates in the Rems-Murr district alone!

Career or standstill?

The Waiblingen employment agency and the Rems-Murr job center have recognized the dramatic developments and are full of hope for qualification. Shockingly, almost 1,000 people in the Rems-Murr district are currently in funded vocational training - an increase of over a third compared to the previous year! However, this is more of a desperate, ramified rescue attempt than a success. In 2024, over 1,800 further training courses were funded, which corresponds to an increase of 29 percent compared to the previous year. But has the devil already taken the labor market into his claws? Employment Agency describes the complicated situation of the long-term unemployed - almost 2,936 people have been looking for a job for more than a year, and that makes up almost 28 percent of all unemployed!

The shock wave of unemployment is not just affecting those who have been laid off: initiatives to improve employment opportunities and support companies in finding skilled workers will continue in 2025. Hope comes from new measures to reduce unemployment and integrate the long-term unemployed. But are these just drops in a bucket in the middle of a vast labor market ocean?
