Ludvig Hallbäck fights back: Hope for the start of the season in August!

Frisch Auf Göppingen's playmaker, Ludvig Hallbäck, has been out since the beginning of April 2025. A failed jump shot during a game against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf caused his elbow to dislocate. The injury occurred in the 40th minute of the game, and Hallbäck was taken to hospital in Hannover immediately afterwards before returning to Göppingen with his left arm in a cast. Detailed examinations and an MRI in Markgröningen confirmed the need for an operation, which Hallbäck has now had. According to Handball World The player recently removed his brace and is optimistic that he will be able to be back on the field at the end of August for the start of the season.

The operation was unavoidable, which means that Hallbäck will be out at least until the end of the season Esslinger newspaper reported. Last season, the playmaker scored 127 goals in 24 games and prepared 62 more goals, which underlines his central role in the team.

Team and coach react

Coach Ben Matschke commented on the situation and praised Hallbäck's strength and development. He is confident that the team can compensate for the playmaker's loss as a group. Elias Newel and Oskar Neudeck will be used for the upcoming games and will take over Hallbäck's position in the middle of the backcourt. Newel, who is only 20 years old, has already performed well and will play a crucial role in the final stretch of the season.

Frisch Auf Göppingen is now looking ahead to the next games, including on April 19th against THW Kiel. The Bundesliga second half dates are as follows:
