New update for Guild Wars 2: Redemption brings exciting changes!

On June 2, 2025, Guild Wars 2 players look forward to the upcoming release of the Redemption update, arriving on June 3, 2025. This update marks the conclusion of the “Janthir Wilds” expansion and brings with it numerous quality improvements that will significantly increase gaming comfort. How Buffed Reportedly, the patch includes, among other things, a new Sorcerer's Portal Tome, which combines over 30 teleportation items and is available from the Astral Guard medic Miyrna in Lion's Arch or in the newly discovered Bava Nisos zone.

Another highlight of the update is the “Magician Muncher,” which combines 20 different muncher items into a single item. This can also be found at the Charr dealer Gharr Leadclaw in Lion's Arch. Additionally, the decoration limit in the homestead will be increased from 1,000 to 2,000, with players initially having 1,500 decorations and being able to obtain an additional 500 through the Grandmaster Artisan Crafting mastery rank.

In-game revisions

Other changes include converting Rift Essences into currencies to maximize players' valuable inventory space. The developers have also made improvements to research notes, which now enable targeted crafting of “peer-reviewed research” for 150 research notes. The timegating for faction utilities will also be reduced, so players can now purchase seven utility tokens per week.

In an exciting context, the introduction of this new content takes place in relation to Bava Nisos, an upcoming zone that houses the ruins of a once majestic Mursaat city. This mysterious city is hidden on one of the northern islands of Janthir and has previously been sealed off from storms. How Guild Wars 2 Wiki explained, the city has been abandoned since the fall of the Mursaat in the war against the Titans and the Shining Blade and is considered hostile.

Bava Nisos was chosen by a Mursaat to establish an outpost near the Golden Lake for the creation of Scrying Eyes and other magical spells. The city's imposing structure is made of alabaster and gold filigree, with massive towers reaching into the sky. According to reports from the founder of the White Mantle, the city's main entrance, known as the Gilded Approach, is the central entrance to the outskirts, where the Grand Athenaeum and the Nexus of Moonlight are located.

Historical significance and discoveries

The city has a rich history, having been discovered by Saul D'Alessio in 1067 AE, after which the Mursaat formed him to form the White Mantle. After the death of Mabon in 1336 AE, a Mursaat member of the Wizard's Court, the magical wards around Bava Nisos weakened, eventually allowing the White Mantle explorers to reach the ruins. Another intriguing aspect is the discovery of a Mists Door leading into the Foundry of Failed Creations in the Realm of Torment, revealed by Isgarren in 1337 AE.

The connection between the Redemption update and Bava Nisos is both thematically and historically significant, enriching the gaming experience and providing new challenges for adventurers in Tyria.
