Young bikers demand more space: Demo on Saturday in Waiblingen!

Young bikers from the region are planning a demonstration for Saturday, September 27, 2025 under the motto “More space for motorcyclists”. The event is organized by Neo Stippa, a 17-year-old student from Hohenacker. Around 200 participants are expected to travel from the Waiblingen round sports hall to the Esslinger Jägerhaus and then return to Waiblingen. The group, which calls itself “Stuttgart Bikers”, wants to use this campaign to draw attention to the needs of motorcyclists and advocate for more acceptance in road traffic. This initiative is a response to the ongoing frustration among bikers resulting from the frequent disregard for their concerns. ZVW reports that the meeting will only begin with a short speech.

A few months ago (May 31, 2025), a large group of around 800 motorcyclists took part in a parade that led from the Stuttgart Trade Fair to the television tower. This parade had the motto “Safety through visibility” and was organized by DEKRA. The aim was to draw attention to the often underestimated danger to motorcyclists in road traffic. Jann Fehlauer, Managing Director of DEKRA Automobil, explained that motorcycles are often overlooked because of their narrow silhouette or the black clothing of the drivers. This is particularly dangerous because it is difficult to estimate the speed of a motorcycle.

Demand for more traffic safety

Fehlauer emphasized that a high-visibility vest in high-visibility colors could increase the visibility of bikers, but was not always met with approval from participants. After the official events, many bikers often take these vests off again. The need to raise awareness of safety clothing and promote understanding among other road users was highlighted as central to road safety.
