Double accident in Lake Constance district: Four seriously injured in crash!
Today there were two serious traffic accidents in the Lake Constance district, which resulted in numerous injuries and led to the complete closure of important road sections.
The first incident occurred on a county road where a 70-year-old driver suddenly accelerated and hit the vehicle in front of her. Due to the force of the impact, the approaching car moved into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car. As a result, the 70-year-old's car left the road, drove through the shoulder without braking and was finally stopped by the guardrail after about 100 meters. Both the 70-year-old driver and a 62-year-old driver of one of the other vehicles involved were trapped in their cars and had to be freed by the fire department. The two drivers and two other people were taken to hospitals with serious injuries. The material damage amounts to several tens of thousands of euros, the district road remains closed to traffic until the evening hours, as Stuttgarter Nachrichten reported.

Statistical background on traffic accidents
The large number of accidents in this area reminds us of the important role of traffic accident statistics. The data collected by the Federal Statistical Office is used not only to analyze the causes of accidents, but also to develop measures in legislation, traffic education as well as in road construction and vehicle technology. The aim is to identify structural and safety-relevant aspects and to develop preventative strategies based on these findings.
These two accidents once again demonstrate the vulnerability in road traffic and the need to consistently improve road safety. The affected road users are in the public's mind while the investigation into the causes of the accident continues.
