Constantin Schreiber is leaving the Tagesschau – a warm farewell!
On May 25, 2025, Constantin Schreiber said goodbye as spokesman for the “Tagesschau” after eight and a half years. The journalist, born in 1979, who became part of the news program in 2017, used his last broadcast to thank viewers and wish them “a nice evening”. In an emotional moment, he quoted a Chinese proverb that embodied the desire for positive news and belief in good. Schreiber, who also wrote several books, including a work on Islam and the polemic “Let's talk openly!” published, plans to take new journalistic paths.
His departure, which happened at his own request, was announced by ARD on May 15, 2025. Marcus Bornheim, first editor-in-chief of ARD-aktuell, expressed regret over Schreiber's decision, but respects his desire for change. Schreiber thanks not only his viewers, but also his colleagues who supported him during his time in the editorial team.

With Schreiber's departure, Romy Hiller will join the show's speaker team on June 14, 2025. After Schreiber's departure, Jens Riewa, Susanne Daubner, Julia-Niharika Sen and Thorsten Schröder will continue to form the “Tagesschau” team.
