Rail chaos in the greater Stuttgart area: commuters despair at construction sites!

In the greater Stuttgart area, the construction site management of Deutsche Bahn (DB) is causing massive discomfort among commuters. According to ZVW, the situation is considered worrying until 2026. The Arverio company, which serves the Rems and Murrtal region, comments on the significant problems and would like to draw attention to the dramatic circumstances.

Rail commuters are used to difficulties, but the challenges have recently increased significantly. Two major challenges facing DB remain anonymous, but the implications are obvious. Figures, facts and forecasts underline the drama of the situation, which has become a daily burden for many passengers.

Problems due to construction work

A concrete example of the difficulties is train 78964, which runs on several days, including March 10th, April 7th, May 5th and June 2nd. and June 30, 2025. The reason for this is construction work by DB InfraGO, which will be carried out over a longer period from March 10th to July 1st, 2025. These measures lead to evening and nighttime closures on various days, as Arverio reports.

A rail replacement service (SEV) was set up to bridge the closed routes between Buchloe, Memmingen and Lindau. Express buses run between Lindau and Memmingen during this time. However, it should be noted that the SEV stops are not always directly at the train stations and that it is not possible to take bicycles on the buses. In addition, different travel times apply, which should be strictly observed.

Further route closures and information

During the above-mentioned period, further route closures are also possible, particularly between Geltendorf and Munich on certain days. Travelers are asked to obtain information about changes in digital travel information media and to download the replacement timetable relevant to them.

The current situation casts a critical light on the efficiency of DB's construction site management and its ability to adequately support commuters in the Stuttgart region. Looking ahead to the coming months, it is to be hoped that Deutsche Bahn will find solutions to enable commuters to travel more reliably.
