DFB rewards 36 amateur clubs with over 81,000 euros for talent!

The German Football Association (DFB) recently launched a bonus system for amateur clubs that focuses on promoting young talent. The clubs should be rewarded for their commitment to promoting talent. According to wuerttfv.de, a total of 81,150 euros were distributed to 36 Württemberg clubs. This sum is the result of the debuts of 26 players in DFB U national teams in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. With this measure, the association underlines the importance of amateur clubs for the development of future professional players.

The junior association cup finals were held in Geislingen on May 29, 2025, followed by a women's U23 international match between Germany and the USA on May 30 in Aspach. In this context, association youth leaders Michael Supper and Sandra Mülherr presented the checks to the individual clubs that are supported by the bonus payments.

The bonus system in detail

The DFB bonus system has existed since the 2004/2005 season. The basic idea is simple: If former players from an amateur club are used in DFB-U national teams, these clubs receive financial benefits. According to dfb.de, those responsible wanted to use this initiative to reward smaller clubs that have made a significant contribution to the sporting development of young people.

The present bonus payments apply to players who have played at an amateur club for at least two years and to the junior and junior teams that play an international match in the U16, U17, U18 or U19 categories.

  • Zwei Jahre Spielzeit: 1200 Euro
  • Für jedes zusätzliche Jahr: 500 Euro

The funds should be used to promote youth football, for example to purchase training equipment or jerseys. The use of the money is monitored by the respective regional association, and the clubs do not have to worry about the payment - this is done automatically.
