Mysterious fire in Vaihingen: One dead and mystery about the cause!

In January there was a devastating fire in an asylum accommodation in Vaihingen an der Enz, in the Ludwigsburg district. In the tragic incident, a 58-year-old man lost his life due to burn injuries and smoke inhalation. In addition, three other residents of the accommodation were injured and were subsequently taken to hospitals. The severity of their injuries is currently unknown, but one firefighter was slightly injured during the operation.

The Heilbronn public prosecutor's office has now stopped investigating the fire because no clear evidence of a possible cause of the fire could be found. Investigators initially focused on two hypotheses: a technical defect or arson. Despite a passing suspicion against a resident based on previous statements, no incriminating evidence could be found against him. Furthermore, no traces of accelerant were found on him or his clothing, which further complicates the question of guilt.

Investigation and cause of fire

The cause of the fire therefore remains unclear. The property, in which 19 people lived at the time of the fire, is now being further investigated by the police's forensic science department. The one-story building is currently in danger of collapsing, which is why the roof has already been removed after the fire. This allowed the fire department to continue its work to determine the cause of the fire.

In summary, despite extensive investigations, neither a definitive cause of the fire could be determined nor any evidence of third-party violence. The safety of the remaining residents and clarification of the circumstances are now the focus of further investigations.

This incident is a serious blow for those affected and the community, which not only raises questions about security, but also reminds us of the sensitivity in dealing with refugee accommodation and their need for protection. Only recently was the fire in the accommodation meticulously examined and the need for further preventive measures discussed.
