Danger of ice in the Rems-Murr district: Warning for today until 8:30 a.m.!

Today, January 9, 2026, a slippery weather warning was issued in the Rems-Murr district. This emerges from a message from the German Weather Service (DWD), which was published at 7:32 a.m. The acute threat of black ice is expected between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., which poses a significant road traffic risk for the affected communities.

A large number of communities are affected by the warning, including: Alfdorf, Allmersbach/Tal, Althütte, Auenwald, Backnang, Berglen, Burgstetten, Fellbach, Großerlach, Kaisersbach, Kernen/Remstal, Kirchberg/Murr, Korb, Leutenbach, Murrhardt, Oppenweiler, Plüderhausen, Remshalden, Rudersberg, Schorndorf, Schwaikheim, Spiegelberg, Sulzbach/Murr, Urbach/BW, Waiblingen, Weinstadt, Weissach/Tal, Welzheim, Winnenden and Winterbach.

Weather and traffic safety

The DWD recommends adapting your behavior in traffic in order to avoid accidents due to slippery roads. And caution is not only required in the Rems-Murr district: the weather warning situation for Germany shows dangers across the board, including hurricane-like gusts in the Black Forest and Helgoland as well as severe squalls on the Brocken. There is also a risk of heavy snowdrifts and intense snowfall in the north and east.

Black ice is expected in parts of Bavaria and central Germany, which also leads to an increased risk of accidents. Widespread overnight frost and localized frost warnings should be observed across the Northeast. This extreme weather can have an impact on traffic and everyday life across the entire Federal Republic.

Current warning statuses

The information situation is supported by an interactive map from the DWD, on which severe weather warnings for individual districts can be viewed. This provides a clear overview of which districts are currently affected. There are different warning levels for the various weather phenomena, ranging from simple weather warnings to extreme weather, which is particularly important for hurricane gusts of over 140 km/h.

Given the prevailing weather conditions, it is advisable to regularly inform yourself about the current situation. Updates to warnings will be provided depending on weather conditions to adequately protect citizens.
