Luca Piljek stays: GSV relies on continuity in the promotion race!

1. Göppinger SV was able to announce good news on June 11, 2025: The contract with the talented player Luca Piljek has been extended. The 23-year-old, who operates in the attacking midfield, is entering his fifth season at GSV. Piljek moved from FC Heidenheim's U19 team to the Göppingen sports club five years ago and has since made almost 80 appearances in competitive games. His dribbling strength, creativity and instinct for decisive passes have made him a valuable player for the team. Managing director of sports, Gianni Coveli, emphasized the importance of Piljek for the sporting planning and the team.

In a statement, Piljek expressed himself positively about his time at GSV and highlighted the support from the team, the coaching team and the fans. The contract extension is seen as a sign of continuity and development within the team. It is a step that impressively underlines the club's strategic direction, especially before the crucial games in the coming promotion round.

Promotion games and team strategies

The GSV is in an exciting phase, as the team recently won an outstanding home game against FSV Hollenbach 7-0. This result catapulted the club to second place in the table after SG Sonnenhof Großaspach only drew 1-1 against FC Holzhausen. Coach Gianni Coveli was optimistic about the upcoming promotion round, which started on June 8th. The decisive game took place on June 11th at 7 p.m.

Coveli has also already signed upcoming players for next season. They include Leon Braun (SV Fellbach), David Trivunic (FC Nöttingen) and Oguzhan Kececi. Only the whereabouts of veteran Mijo Tunjic (36) is still uncertain. Meanwhile, left-back Frederik Schumann (21) will leave GSV and move to VfB Stuttgart II, while captain Domenic Brück (35) will become player-coach at TSV Köngen.

The promotion round is intensive, as only the first place team has the chance of being promoted to the Regionalliga Südwest. GSV will face Türk Gücü Friedberg, and another possible opponent could be SV Gonsenheim. Winning promotion could be important not only for GSV, but also for SSV Reutlingen, who will remain in the Oberliga if GSV is promoted.

The GSV is therefore full of confidence for the challenges ahead, while Luca Piljek is making a significant contribution to the stability and future of the club with his contract extension.
