On Thursday, July 10th, the Pauluskirche in Heidenheim will be the venue for a fascinating concert Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno and the Cappella Aquileia. Under the title “Mother’s Love” the central work of the evening, the medieval poem “Stabat Mater”, will be performed, as well as two musical settings of this impressive text.
The “Stabat Mater” describes the pain of Mary at the sight of her crucified son and is considered one of the most important works of choral music. The choir, which has received numerous awards since its founding in 1990, will perform under the direction of Marcus Bosch and the settings by Antonín Dvořák and Fiala. Dvořák's “Stabat Mater” is presented in ten impressive movements.
Soloists and introduction to the work
The concert at 7:30 p.m. will be accompanied by top-class soloists: Julia Danz (soprano), Marie-Luise Dreßen (alto), Lukas Siebert (tenor) and Gerrit Illenberger (baritone) will bring the musical sounds to life. Before the concert, there will be an introduction to the work in the Great Hall of the Paulusgemeindehaus at 7 p.m., which will offer visitors a deeper insight into the works.

The Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno
The Czech Philharmonic Choir in Brno is one of the most sought-after choirs in Europe and is regularly honored at international music festivals and in renowned halls. Over the years, the choir has won numerous awards, including the ECHO Klassik as Best Vocal Ensemble of the Year in 2007. Its annual number of almost 100 concerts also testifies to its outstanding position in the music world. Led by musical greats such as Marcus Bosch and the new second choir director Joel Hána, who will start in January 2024, the choir works closely with many Czech and international orchestras.
Its numerous performances in cities such as Prague, Vienna, Basel and Paris show the high esteem in which the choir is held. He received special attention for his interpretation of the Glagolitic Mass by Leoš Janáček, which earned him the award for the best vocal interpretation of 2019 from the Classical Prague Awards brought in.
