The murder victim had previously made a mysterious call to the police. Rhine Palatinate added that no further details were released about the shooting club's role in the crime scene in order not to spoil viewers.

The shooting festival in Hanover is considered the largest of its kind in the world and attracts around 900,000 visitors every year. The 496th Schützenfest opened in 2023 and will continue until July 13th.
