New Aldi opens in Steinheim – with daycare and environmental protection!
A new Aldi discount store opened in Steinheim an der Murr today. The opening of the market comes after less than a year of construction and marks an important step for the local infrastructure. The new Aldi is located between Bahnhofsstrasse and Industriestrasse and offers its customers opening times from Monday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. According to this information, the project has been in planning for several years and has finally reaped the fruits of its efforts, as LKZ reports.
Particular attention was paid to the environmental protection measures that had to be implemented during construction. Due to the presence of wall lizards, a protected species, there were delays in construction. The original plan was to relocate the lizards, but this idea was scrapped because the required land was not available. Instead, it was decided to create two retreat areas for the lizards on the Aldi site. These retreat areas are protected by a one meter high wall to protect the animals from traffic, according to information from Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
New home for children and lizards
A daycare center will also be set up on the upper floor of the new Aldi store. This daycare center is scheduled to open its doors next summer and provide places for children under and over three years old. This initiative aims not only to meet the needs of the local population, but also to promote the establishment of a social framework in the new shopping center. Aldi is planning a comprehensive concept that combines both shopping and childcare.
The discounter's sales area will be reduced to 1,000 square meters, which is 200 square meters less than originally planned. This step was taken to avoid competition with our own branch in Murr. In comparison, the Norma market opposite is not considered competitive. However, the development plan still needs to be finalized, which will take place after the public display this year. Aldi hopes to quickly complete all administrative processes in order to establish operations in Steinheim.
In summary, the opening of the new Aldi store in Steinheim is not only a win for the retail landscape, but is also accompanied by a clear focus on environmental protection and social responsibility. The establishment of the daycare center and the creation of habitats for lizards make it clear that Aldi is consciously addressing the challenges on site.
