Welzheim is blossoming: new adventure playground UrSprung” opens!
A new play and experience space will open in Welzheim on Whit Saturday, June 7, 2025. The area is called “UrSprung” and is located at Laufenmühle 8 in the Welzheimer Forest. This innovative play area is closely based on the theme of “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter” and aims to create real playful freedom for children. According to ZVW, the playground should be designed to be lively and adventurous in order to meet the needs and imagination of the children.
The playground is designed not only as a place for play, but also as a space for social experience. Children can ask questions about personal and social development, such as the strength of their group, the role of the leader and how they support each other. This is viewed by the initiative The Origin as an important aspect of child development.
Social issues in focus
The initiators of the project recognized that free play is often less important for adults. Adults often rely on reflection and feedback to go through learning processes. Changes on a personal level are often associated with challenges and emotional stress. Therefore, those responsible in the “UrSprung” playground try to make social issues tangible through various “substitute” situations.
An example of such an experience is a team being led blindly through the forest to illustrate themes of trust and distrust. These concrete experiences are intended to help promote important social skills in order to counteract the division in society. The playground thus becomes a space in which skills and values that are essential for living together in the community are taught.
The opening of the “UrSprung” play and experience space takes place not only in a playful environment, but also with the aim of having a positive social impact. Promoting social skills in children is an approach that offers hope for a better, more united community.
