Ludwigsburg's track attendant: Safety for industrial trains for 30 years!

In Ludwigsburg's Weststadt, the industrial train has become an important part of the regional infrastructure. Several times a week at lunchtime it runs from the Kornwestheim marshalling yard to the company Gebr. Lotter KG. Nuri Dogru, track maintenance officer at the Technical Services Ludwigsburg (TDL), has been ensuring that this train can run safely for 30 years. Dogru, who has been employed by TDL for a total of 35 years, regularly comes into contact with local residents during his work. The children along the way are particularly happy when the train passes by and cheer when the train driver responds in a friendly manner by honking.

The route of the industrial train is around two kilometers and runs from the outskirts of Ludwigsburg. On this route, the train crosses the road eleven times, with traffic lights installed in two places. At the remaining crossings, Dogru and a colleague from DB Cargo take on the task of regulating traffic by acting as “human traffic lights”. During his service, Dogru has witnessed a number of car accidents, but has never been involved in such an incident himself.

Safety measures and track inspection

Nuri Dogru has a variety of tasks to ensure safety on the train route. This includes regular inspection of the tracks and cleaning of sand and grit. His activities also include lubricating the switches and monitoring the clearance gauge. If Dogru notices defective rails, he immediately informs DB Netz, which is responsible for the repairs.

The St. Johann kindergarten, which is also located near the route, is particularly happy about the train passing by. The children enthusiastically watch as the heavy hardware, including steel beams, is transported to the Lotter company. Since 2016, only this company has been regularly served by industrial railways, which further strengthens the industrial character of the region.

With a dedicated team at TDL and the support of partners such as SEC-Rail GmbH, the safety and efficiency of track operations in Ludwigsburg is ensured. SEC-Rail ensures professional track safety measures nationwide and adapts to individual customer requirements, which supports the overall concept of track maintenance and safety in the region. Nuri Dogru remains an indispensable part of the daily operation of the industrial train.

For the city of Ludwigsburg, the industrial train is not only a means of transport, but also a symbol of the connection between industry and the common good - an important part of urban life and the local economy.
