Monument preservation in focus
In the context of monument preservation, the preservation of historical buildings and sites is of central importance. It aims to preserve the cultural heritage and historical significance of our towns and villages. The challenges are diverse: decay, environmental influences and the pressure of modernization often endanger the preservation of historical structures. Therefore, careful documentation is crucial to preserve the condition and history of the buildings. This includes the recording of art and cultural assets in churches and parishes, as practiced by the Diocese of Mainz under the direction of the Church Monument Preservation, which strives for a complete recording of these assets bistummainz.de.
The inventory ensures that even objects that are no longer actively used are brought into the memory of the community. These measures reflect the deeper meaning and identity of the community and ensure that the cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.
