Seniors from Steinheim visit the school museum: memories awaken!
On May 30, 2025, seniors from Steinheim visited the school museum in Kornwestheim. The day started cloudy and rainy, but cleared up as the day progressed. The hike started at Ludwigsburg train station, where the participants prepared for an informative and entertaining day. The first stop led them to a conversation with Mayor Knecht of Ludwigsburg, which was a special start to further exploration.
After the exchange with the mayor, we continued to the Grüne Bettlade, the highest point in Ludwigsburg, which extends at a height of 300 meters. Here the seniors received interesting explanations about the history of the place before the group finally moved on to Kornwestheim.
Visit to the school museum
When they arrived at the school museum, the seniors were welcomed by a teacher who gave them an insight into school experiences of the past. The topics that were covered were of great importance to the participants and stimulated memories of their own school days. This included exciting information about the fact that classes started at 6:30 a.m., that students had to bring wood for heating, and that the use of canes and punishments such as “standing in the corner” were considered educational measures.
These lively stories and the opportunity to reminisce helped visitors find their stay in the museum very enriching. After the informative part of the day, the last few hours were spent with conversations and good food before the return journey by train and bus.
Cultural and hiking trip
The hikes offered the participants impressive landscapes with wild flowers, views of the Rhine plain and the Vosges. Lonely little churches and quiet rest areas provided places for relaxation and reflection. During this excursion, the observations of rare birds and butterflies were also a highlight. The enjoyment of good food and fine wine rounded off the experience.
The return journey was characterized by a good atmosphere, even if a 20-minute rain shower accompanied the journey. Many sang on the bus, creating a happy atmosphere that will be unforgettable for all participants on both days.
Such excursions not only promote community, but also arouse interest in the history and culture of the region, as the visits to the school museum and the hiking trips impressively show.
