Heat warning in the Ludwigsburg district: How to stay cool at over 32 degrees!

A heat warning has been issued in the Ludwigsburg district due to the impending heat wave. Temperatures are expected to rise above 32 degrees in the coming days. The district office has activated heat warning level 1, which is part of the heat action plan and activated an alert chain for precautionary measures. Stuttgart News report that the health department has informed all municipalities. Warning emails were sent to schools, doctor's offices and care facilities to better protect the population.

To minimize the effects of heat, there are a number of recommendations. Citizens should avoid the midday sun between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and ensure adequate sun protection by applying sunscreen before going outdoors. In addition, it is recommended to postpone physical activities to the cooler morning or evening hours and to ensure adequate fluid intake. Eating light foods also helps relieve the body during hot days.

Heat action plan and its measures

As part of the “Round Table on Heat Protection”, founded in July 2022, several meetings were organized, attended by representatives from healthcare, educational institutions and social institutions. The Heat Action Plan (HAP) aims to educate the population about the dangers of heat waves and to raise their awareness of the issue. The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration has also recognized the Ludwigsburg district for its pioneering role.

Groups at particular risk, including older people and children, are the focus of these measures. The health department offers training and support to create individual action plans for communities. Ludwigsburg district also provides information about a “Cool Map” that shows cool places where citizens can stay during hot days.
