Advent magic in Erdmannhausen: celebration with the sound of flutes and stories

On December 2, 2025, a festive Advent celebration took place in the Erdmannhausen local library, which was organized by an ecumenical Advent team. The event attracted numerous guests, both young and old, and offered a diverse program that began with a musical introduction by Marita Schubert on the alto flute and Heidi Glock on the bass flute. The presentation of the picture book story “Christmas is Saved” in the kamishibai, a traditional Japanese wooden theater frame, was particularly enjoyable.

The story told during the celebration was about a Santa Claus who had difficulty distributing gifts. The children from the Pfiffikus daycare group suggested that the Christmas Easter Bunny could help. This exciting collaboration between Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny was creatively and imaginatively integrated into the plot.

Advent window and living Advent calendar

As part of the celebration, the participants were also able to sing songs, which were accompanied by flute accompaniment. In addition to the musical entertainment, visitors were served punch and nibbles, which added to the convivial atmosphere. The Living Advent Calendar will also be active again in Erdmannhausen in December. Every evening at 6 p.m. an Advent window opens with various hosts, including families, the church, the library or local associations.

Those interested can register as hosts to decorate a window or garden together with neighbors or friends. These meetings promote community and invite people to sing Advent songs and listen to shared stories. Here, too, after the event there is often the opportunity to spend time together with tea or fruit punch.

Participate and create

To take part in the Living Advent Calendar evenings, you must register as a host by October 17, 2025. The organizers Beate Schmitt and Marita Schubert look forward to receiving feedback via email. Each of the calendar's 24 “doors” is dedicated to a different person or group, creating a great opportunity to experience the run-up to Christmas together.

These activities promote togetherness and create a festive atmosphere in the community. Whether singing, telling stories or socializing, the Advent season in Erdmannhausen offers numerous opportunities to get actively involved and share the anticipation of Christmas.
