Track work in Feuerbach: Trains to Stuttgart severely affected!

In Stuttgart there will be significant restrictions on local transport until 4 a.m. on July 7, 2025 due to track work by Deutsche Bahn in Feuerbach. The long-distance tracks between Zuffenhausen and the Nordbahnhof are closed, which has far-reaching consequences for the timetables of the S-Bahn and long-distance trains. Loud Stuttgart News The S-Bahn lines S4 and S5 only run every 30 minutes, while the S-Bahn lines S6 and S60 run between Weil der Stadt, Böblingen and Zuffenhausen. The S62 is completely eliminated.

Additional changes affect long-distance transport. The long-distance trains that normally stop at Stuttgart main station have to switch to Esslingen station, which results in longer journey times. The majority of long-distance connections between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe are no longer available, but transfer connections via Mannheim are available.

Regional transport and diversions

There are also disruptions in regional transport. The regional train line RB11 (Schusterbahn) between Kornwestheim and Untertürkheim is no longer available. The RE1 trains will be rerouted between the main station and Vaihingen/Enz and will also stop in Bietigheim-Bissingen. This leads to travel time deviations on the Stuttgart-Karlsruhe route. There are also train cancellations on the regional connection between the main station and Bietigheim-Bissingen. The trains on the MEX18 line will also be rerouted, without a stop in Bad Cannstatt or at the main station, but with an additional stop in Kornwestheim.

These measures are not the only challenges that travelers in Stuttgart currently have to overcome. As part of the construction work for the Stuttgart Digital Hub, which took place from May 12th to June 9th, 2023, a rail replacement service (SEV) was set up, which meant that numerous additional buses were organized. These traffic changes particularly affect the section between Waiblingen and Bad Cannstatt, where buses run every 5 minutes and extensive work has been carried out at Bad Cannstatt train station. Even during this lockdown period, bus services will continue to be maintained to ensure a seamless connection, said Stuttgart S-Bahn.

Specific passenger rights apply to long-distance travelers who have already booked trains that are not running or have been changed. In addition, service personnel will be deployed at the affected stations to support passengers and provide information. A ground guidance system will be installed at the replacement stops to ensure a certain level of orientation.
