The Stanisław Moniuszko International Singing Competition, also known as Konkurs Moniuszkowski, will take place this year from June 2nd to 7th, 2025 in the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw. This 12th edition of the prestigious competition attracts critics, agents and opera directors from all over the world. The jury includes numerous prominent members, including John Allison, Peter Mario Katona and Evamaria Wieser. The aim of the competition is to provide a platform for young opera singers who are no older than 33 on the day of the competition. The competition is divided into three stages, during which participants will perform works by Polish and international composers.
After participants go through several rounds, the event concludes with a special finale: a piano recital by Spanish pianist Martin Garcia Garcia. Known for his interpretations of Romantic works, he will present pieces by Chopin, Schumann and Albéniz during the recital. The concert program includes works by Polish lyricists such as Moniuszko and Szymanowski as well as by European composers such as Schubert and Mompou.

The competition was launched in 1992 and has enjoyed an excellent reputation ever since. Since 1998 it has been held at the Teatr Wielki – the National Opera in Warsaw – which underlines its importance as a central institution for young singing talent. Maria Fołtyn took over the artistic direction at the time. Participation in this competition is crucial for emerging artists, as many prominent opera stars have started their careers here, including Aleksandra Kurzak and Jakub Józef Orliński.
