On Saturday, June 15, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on Autobahn 8 near Wendlingen in the direction of Munich. At 4:15 p.m. the rear tire of a Subaru burst, leading to dramatic events. The 33-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into the guardrail and was thrown back onto the road. There was a 36-year-old passenger in the car and her two children aged 8 years and 7 months.
The driver was thrown from the car in the impact and suffered serious injuries. The passenger and the children also suffered injuries, some of them serious. All occupants were immediately taken to a hospital, where the 33-year-old died from his injuries.
Rescue and recovery operations
The extent of the accident required extensive deployment of various rescue services. In addition to the Kirchheim motorway maintenance department, the Reutlingen and Ludwigsburg police headquarters were on duty. In addition, two patrol cars from the Mühlhausen im Täle traffic police, two rescue helicopters, several emergency service vehicles as well as the fire department and a towing company were used.
