SCANDAL in the automotive sector: Huber Automotive files for bankruptcy!

DISASTER news shakes the interface between innovation and insolvency: Huber Automotive AG, a major player in the hotly contested field of electric mobility, filed for bankruptcy on August 27, 2025! This shocking development comes like a bolt from the blue not only for the employees in Mühlhausen im Täle, but for the entire automotive industry! The situation is DRAMATIC!

Huber Automotive AG, founded in 2000 and emerging from Huber Fahrzeugtechnik, which was founded in 1983, specializes in converting vehicles for electromobility. But despite this forward-looking orientation, the company has fallen into a FINANCIAL abyss, which manifests itself in a shocking decline in sales of a whopping 58 percent to 38.9 million euros in the 2023/2024 financial year!

The effects of profound change

What are the reasons for this AGONIA? A tense economic situation coupled with falling demand for electric vehicles has brought the company to its knees. Creditors have waived some of their claims, but this has proven to be insufficient to halt the dramatic downward trend. Now around 73 to 100 employees are affected, while their wages and salaries for September, October and November are secured by the bankruptcy money - that's a tiny ray of light in the DARKNESS!

The Göppingen District Court has approved the application for insolvency and appointed the experienced Martin Mucha as provisional insolvency administrator. He will now examine the company's shocking financial situation. Business operations will continue for the time being, although the uncertainty is almost palpable.

A bleak picture for the industry

But Huber Automotive AG is not alone in this financial misery. MVI Group GmbH has also filed for bankruptcy. This frightening duet shows how fragile the German automotive industry has become: According to a shocking analysis by the consulting firm EY, around 51,500 jobs were lost in the industry within a year - a dramatic decline of almost seven percent!

The bankruptcies of both companies are an expression of a profound structural change in the automotive industry. Factors such as overcapacity, fierce competitive pressure from suppliers from China and the new US tariffs are severely affecting manufacturers and suppliers. Large companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Bosch have already announced drastic cost-cutting measures - the waves of the downturn can no longer be stopped!

We can only hope that those responsible will take the necessary measures to save Huber Automotive AG and MVI Group GmbH before the lights go out forever. The automotive industry is at a turning point - WHETHER there is a way back to safety remains questionable!
