Husband in court: Tanja W. murder case from Pommelsbrunn shocks Bavaria

The murder trial of 49-year-old Tanja W. from Pommelsbrunn began today in Nuremberg. Her 51-year-old husband Oleg W. from Hohenstadt is suspected of killing his wife. The public prosecutor's office alleges that Tanja W. died by strangulation and was then buried in the forest. The case has not only moved the region, but also speaks of an underlying motive: jealousy.

The investigation began after Tanja W. disappeared on September 27, 2023. Her adult children reported it to the police the day after her disappearance. Despite an intensive search, which initially focused on a nearby quarry pond, all efforts were unsuccessful. The husband was immediately targeted by investigators. They investigated him on suspicion of manslaughter. Oleg W. has been in custody since the end of September 2023, when traces of blood were discovered in Tanja W.'s house.

Investigations and clues

The police are still very interested in information about Oleg W. and his black VW Tiguan with the license plate LAU-SW 358. Investigators are asking the public for support: Anyone who saw the car in Middle Franconia between August 1st, 2024 and September 29th, 2024 is asked to call 0911/2112-3333. At times the search was expanded to include Lake Happurg and surrounding waters.

The search for Tanja W.'s body lasted a total of two months before suspicion against her husband grew ever stronger. The police have apparently also investigated the personal and family background in more detail in order to clarify possible motives for the crime.

The murder trial in Nuremberg is being followed closely by the media as it attracts a great deal of public attention not only because of the atrocities but also because of the tragic circumstances of Tanja W.'s disappearance. The exact background and seriousness of the crime will be discussed in detail in the coming days of the trial.

Nürnberger Nachrichten reports that the trial is characterized by high emotional pressure, while the Image provides specific details about the ongoing investigation process.
