INCREDIBLE changes in the church structure of Stuttgart: The charismatic priest Istvan Gegoe is moving on! After a remarkable stay in the Langenenslingen pastoral care unit, he is now the new hospital chaplain at the Robert Bosch Hospital in the Baden-Württemberg state capital. This is more than just a job change - it's a completely new phase of life for the busy pastor!
Istvan Gegoe, a Romanian native from Transylvania, has made a name for himself. After impressive years as a church musician and religious teacher in his homeland, he dared to move to Germany in 1990. His distinctive faith and passion for pastoral care shaped his career. After countless stages, including in Stuttgart and Sindelfingen, the change in summer 2023 will now be an emotional highlight.
A new path for a religious warrior
After seven years as a pastor in Langenenslingen full of intensive efforts for the community, personal motivations left the once influential pastor. The departure is due to family reasons, which present the pastor with a shocking emotional challenge. But there is no reason to despair, because the episcopal application commission will decide on the next steps in November!
The parish in Weikersheim, where he worked until the end of March, now has to prepare for a VACANCY while Gegoe wants to tackle his intra-family obligations. EXCLUSION and TALENT are the key words here! The priest is gearing up to target no fewer than two of the 17 vacancies in the diocese - in an area particularly hit by the pandemic!
A life in the service of God
He was ordained a permanent deacon in 1997. His path took him via Tübingen to his ordination as a priest in 2007 – an actual rise! He describes himself as a “full-blooded pastor” and tirelessly wants to be a “person among people.” Always on the front lines of pastoral care, he experienced compelling stories and challenges that changed not only him, but also the faith community.
But that's not all! Hospital pastoral care itself is a recognized part of the constitution in Germany and an EMOTIONALLY CHARGED task! It is performed by full-time pastors such as priests, deacons and qualified volunteers and represents an important support for patients and hospital employees. Istvan Gegoe will soon be heard and seen in the halls of the Robert Bosch Hospital!
