Great art in the old building: exhibition Imagine... opens!
The fascinating exhibition “Imagine …” by the artist Thomas Heger opens in the gallery in the Old Building in Geislingen an der Steige on September 28, 2025. The opening begins at 11:00 a.m. and invites art lovers to discover the complex works of the Giengen/Brenz-born artist.
Thomas Heger studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart and brings extensive experience to the exhibition. He was not only a lecturer at the Stuttgart Free Art School, but also taught as a professor at Burg Giebichenstein, University of Art and Design in Halle from 2006 to 2012. Heger received numerous art prizes and scholarships for his creative work.
Diverse artwork and themes
The exhibition features a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. Heger experiments with classic materials such as canvas, corrugated cardboard and soap. His works are characterized by a varied use of formats, from traditional to extremely elongated and round tondi.
The focus is on topics that focus on figures and structures between reality and illusion. Visitors can immerse themselves in imaginary worlds inspired by the vagaries of a maze. Heger's style alternates between realism and abstraction, with color and form playing a central role in his work.
Special event elements
The opening speech will be given by Roland Funk, chairman of the Geislingen Art and History Association. Domenik Gebhardt, the association's exhibition director, will also introduce the exhibition. This enables a comprehensive understanding of the artist's works and intentions.

In addition to the art exhibition, Geislingen offers other cultural events. On October 4, 2025, the “Southern Celtic Night” will take place at MieV, Hauptstraße 134, organized by the musicians’ initiative e. V. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 11:55 p.m. Guests can look forward to live music, including from the band “TRINITY” from Göppingen and the headliner “SALT N'TALES” from Northern Hesse. The event promises an authentic Irish pub atmosphere with matching food and drinks, such as draft Guinness and cider.
