Fantastic team performance: FCD women win 5-0 in Kirchheim!
The highly anticipated game between VfL Kirchheim and 1. FC Donzdorf II took place on November 10, 2025. The final score of 0:5 clearly shows that the FCD women were able to take control of the game from the first minute. The players put on a dominant performance, starting with an early goal in the 18th minute. Latifa scored the first goal after a precise cross from Lea.
Just five minutes later, Oda followed up and made it 2-0 after completing an impressive solo effort. In the 34th minute it was Jana who made it 3-0 with a well-placed shot. Loreley increased the score to 4-0 shortly before half-time after being ideally staged by Marlene. In contrast, VfL Kirchheim only had a few harmless shots to offer in the first half.
A superior victory
1. FC Donzdorf II remained the superior team even after the break. Already at the beginning of the second half, Oda tested the opposing goalkeeper, followed by a corner, also taken by Oda, in the 50th minute. In the 55th minute, Katja scored the fifth goal with an impressive long-range shot from 40 meters. On the Kirchheimer side, Lea and Lucy's chances remained rather rare in the 65th and 72nd minutes, and in the final phase Alissa and Oda were unable to achieve any further goals, even if they had a few opportunities.
The FCD defense hardly let anything go wrong throughout the game and the dominant victory is without a doubt the result of a strong team performance.
Women's football is on the rise
This impressive performance by 1. FC Donzdorf II is in the context of a larger development in women's football in Germany. The German Football League (DFL) revived the Women's Super Cup in the summer of 2023 after 26 years, with Bayern Munich winning 1-0 against Wolfsburg. According to a study by the Center for Sport and Management, by 2031 total fan numbers in women's football could be at least three times higher, indicating huge growth potential.
The study, which is based on assessments by 84 experts, identifies key target groups that could breathe new life into women's football. Younger fan groups in particular seem to be very interested in the game. To achieve this, conscious investments are necessary to transform women's football from a subsidy business into an independent sport.
The challenges are great, but women's football could soon establish itself as an independent sport that differentiates itself from the dominant men's football. This depends on the ability to attract new fans and realize the untapped potential.
