Bad Boll mayoral election: Traub fights for victory, scandal rages!

The mayoral election caused a stir in Bad Boll. The incumbent mayor Hans-Rudi Bührle announced the first results and announced a runoff election. Ann Kathrin Traub, the Green Party candidate, received 49.03% of the votes in the first round and was only a few votes short of the absolute majority of 1,233 votes. Christoph Ozasek, the second-place candidate, followed with 44.44% of the votes, which corresponds to just under 1093 votes. The third candidate, Steffen Länge, only got 6.41% (approx. 256 votes). A total of 4,076 eligible voters were called, of whom 2,480 cast their votes, resulting in a voter turnout of 61%. 16 votes were invalid.

The even distribution of votes between Traub and Ozasek now leads to a runoff election that will take place on November 2, 2025. Traub is satisfied with her result and emphasizes her support among citizens, while Ozasek speaks of a “solid result” and sees his positions confirmed. Länge expressed regret about his placement, but sees positive experiences for future political engagements.

Unusual incidents and allegations

The election in Bad Boll was not only characterized by close results, but was also accompanied by various unusual events. A member of the election committee was removed, meaning the committee was no longer complete. There were also allegations against Ann Kathrin Traub as well as Mayor Hans-Rudi Bührle and his administration, which were spread by email. However, Bührle stood behind his employees and announced that he would examine the allegations for civil or criminal relevance.

In another incident, a Green Party councilor, who also sat on the election committee, promoted candidate Ozasek and had to resign from her position as a result. This incident raises questions about neutrality in the election campaign, which is why local authorities were called in.

In the run-up to the runoff election, the focus is on the further clarification of the allegations and the integrity of the conduct of the election. The coming weeks will be crucial for the candidates and the future leadership of Bad Boll.
