Serious accident on B312: young people hit guardrail, road closed!
On Tuesday morning, June 10, 2025, a serious accident occurred on federal highway 312 near Bempflingen in the Esslingen district. An 18-year-old driver was driving her VW Golf around 5:30 a.m. when she drove into the guardrail for reasons that are still unclear. It is reasonable to assume that inattention was the main cause of the accident. After the initial impact, the vehicle's right front tire became wedged and separated from the rim, causing the Golf to rotate several times and collide with the guardrail again.
The total property damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros and the vehicle had to be towed away. As a result, the road in the direction of Stuttgart was partially closed, which lasted for several hours and caused significant disruption to rush hour traffic. The lockdown was finally lifted around 8:30 a.m., reports Stuttgart News.
Additional incidents on the B312
On Saturday afternoon, at around a similar time, there was another serious accident on the B312. Seven people were injured, four of them seriously. At around 3 p.m., a 48-year-old driver drove his Nissan Qashqai into the opposite lane for an unknown reason and collided with a Mercedes that was being driven by a 58-year-old. The Mercedes then rolled over and came to rest on its roof, with the driver and the 53-year-old passenger suffering minor injuries.
The Nissan then collided with a VW Golf driving behind the Mercedes, resulting in serious injuries to the 23-year-old driver and three passengers aged 23 to 25. The 48-year-old man who caused the accident was slightly injured. All the injured had to be taken to hospitals and a rescue helicopter was deployed. The total damage in the Saturday accident amounts to around 60,000 euros, and the B312 was completely closed for around three hours until around 5:45 p.m. Local diversions were put in place during this time, reports said Esslinger newspaper.
Emergency services in action
The Bempflingen fire department was on site with three vehicles and 27 emergency services, while the rescue service mobilized 14 vehicles and 33 emergency services. The road maintenance department was also deployed to restore road conditions as quickly as possible. The Esslingen traffic police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident.
These two incidents on the B312 highlight the dangers of road traffic and the serious consequences that inattention and other unforeseeable factors can have. The authorities advise vigilance and proactive driving behavior to avoid such situations.
