On June 26, 2025, Gareth Wynn Owen, the British Deputy High Commissioner for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and Dr. P Narayana, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, in Amaravati. The main objective of this meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the UK and the state of Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the key areas of infrastructure and urban development. The UK is committed to contributing to the revival of Amaravati as the state capital through this partnership. This commitment reflects the growing bilateral relations in economic and infrastructural matters. Wynn Owen lauded the vision and drive brought in the development of Amaravati under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Focus on design and engineering services
In addition to infrastructural discussions, Wynn Owen also expressed interest in partnering with Andhra Pradesh in the area of design and engineering services. Minister Narayana used the opportunity to explain the government's initiatives for the development of Amaravati with a strong focus on economic growth. A notable point was that the designs for the city's iconic buildings were created by renowned British architect Norman Foster. This detailed shot underlines the close connection between the two regions and the potential for future joint projects.
