The events were sparked by a police operation that began after a suspected theft at the Target store, where police were alerted at 9:05 p.m. The driver of a vehicle linked to the theft attempted to flee, leading to a chase that ultimately ended in a fatal accident. According to 6abc, the accident occurred on the 300 block of Ridge Pike at 9:15 p.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a house.
In the incident, Gabriel M. Cooper, Nasir Youk and Saniyah Newsuan, all 17 years old, lost their lives. The fourth victim, a 15-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Temple University Hospital. Among those killed were two Owen J. Roberts High School students, while the third was a former student. The school's superintendent, Will Stout, confirmed that the injured youth is also a student at Owen J. Roberts High School and offered grief counseling to affected students and their families. Stout asked parents to watch their children for signs of grief or changes in behavior. Owen J. Roberts High School will hold its 2025 graduation ceremony on Friday, now overshadowed by tragedy, according to Inquirer reported.
