In this captivating tour, led by the renowned Dr. Hans-Peter Hils, a real specialist in German and medieval studies, the participants are introduced to the mysterious world of former winegrowing in Owen. The anticipation is almost unbearable!
Recent revelations show that Owen was once a vibrant winemaking hub, with two former wineries and over a dozen broom taverns just waiting to be thrust back into the limelight. The walk, which begins at 2:30 p.m. at the old linden tree on Rathausplatz, lasts 90 minutes during which you will be amazed. But that's not all - at the end of this impressive journey, participants can expect a small wine tasting in the History House, a truly heavenly finale!

And here comes the next madness: This extraordinary event takes place in ALL WEATHER! Yes, you heard right, come rain or shine, participants should wear weatherproof clothing. For everyone who cannot take the tour, you have the opportunity to join us in the history house from 4 p.m. and visit the exciting exhibition “WINE Passion in Bottles of LOVE”, which illuminates the breathtaking history of viticulture in Owen up to the 1970s.
The Owen History House is a true treasure house, open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Here, those curious can delve deeper into the captivating history of the region while being enchanted by the impressive exhibits and the passionate presentation of the Alt-Owen Förderkreis e.V. This organization was founded in 2001 with the aim of promoting historical awareness and preserving the city's cultural heritage. A true heroic act in these modern times!
