SENSATIONAL CALL FOR FUNDS: This is how Tim Owen honors Janine's legacy!
In a SHOCKING act of charity, Tim Owen recently made an overwhelming and significant contribution to the Ballarat Foundation's Janine Owen Fund! This extraordinary foundation was launched in 2013 after an INCREDIBLE tragic accident claimed the life of Janine Owen. But that's not all: Tim describes the time after her death as one of the DARKEST phases of his life, in which he had to cope with loneliness and grief.
After the death of Janine's parents, Betty and Gerald Mallon, Tim Owen was appointed executor as the two siblings, who had also died, no longer had a place in this horrific legacy. Settling the estate opened up the grim possibility of providing further support to the community and took the opportunity to honor Janine's passionate devotion to the community.
A ray of hope in dark times
AWESOME – since its inception, over $130,000 from the Janine Owen Fund has helped address catastrophic issues such as domestic violence, mental illness, homelessness and food insecurity. Ballarat Foundation CEO Andrew Eales highlights the MAGICAL ability of donors to shape the impact of their money and how DONATION can become a tool for lasting community change.
The Janine Owen Fund, one of the largest private philanthropic foundations in the region, is a shining example of how a single gift can transform countless lives. Tim Owen sincerely hopes that his commitment inspires others to also GIVE and actively support their community - an ACTION THAT THE WORLD NEEDS!

But that's not all! In addition to the Janine Owen Fund, there are DESTINATIONS full of opportunities to help the community. The annual Ballarat Women’s Fund Grant 2025, funded through the generous contributions of community members, has provided an incredible grant budget of $35,000!

And that's just the tip of the iceberg! The Community Impact Grants provide up to $15,000 for projects that address food security, mental well-being and many other societal challenges.
