Live the Memories: Warwick mourns the loss of Michelina Angelina Owen
Michelina Angelina (Macarusso) Owen of Warwick passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at the age of 95. She was the former wife of John Edgar Owen, who has died. Michelina was born in Providence and was the daughter of Nicholas and Amelia (Palumbo) Macarusso, both of whom also died. She leaves behind a large family consisting of her children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In her life, Michelina was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was active in the community at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Warwick and was a member of the church choir for many years. She also belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne. Michelina is survived by her five children, Michael T. Owen, Sr. (Deborah), John S. Owen (deceased Debra), Paul S. Owen (Rosemary), David J. Owen (Lisa) and Jane A. Owen, as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her sister, Anna Simonelli of Smithfield, and her best friend, Marion Theroux of Warwick, also mourn her death.
A fulfilled life
Michelina experienced ups and downs in life. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Maureen J. Yeaw (Jay) of West Warwick. Despite these losses, her loved ones will always remember the positive influence she had on their lives. Thanks also go to the nurses Chantelle Dos Remedios and Christina Angell who looked after her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Prior to the service, a visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Following the Mass, Michelina will be buried at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
Donations in memory
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the RI Chapter of MADD, 806 West Shore Road, Warwick, RI 02889, to honor Michelina's memory in a positive light. This gesture is seen by many as a great way to pass on their values and spirit.
